A chartered public finance accountant and a trained town planner, Tim retired as Director of Finance for a major local authority in 2008. He is the independent chair of the audit committees at North East Lincolnshire Council and North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group. Tim is a trustee and non-executive director in the public and private sector of various charities including Hinckley Homeless Group, CAB, Food Bank, Work link and the family and work initiative.
Tim is also on the MAT Board of Directors.
Tim joined the Raising Achievement Board to support the improvement of student outcomes. He has 18 years’ experience as an education governor.
Tim’s hobbies are listening to and playing music and gardening.
Grace has been a member of the Raising Achievement Board since September 2013. She is a past pupil at the school and has also been a Governor at New College Nottingham.
Grace has a wide range of experience of chairing and being a member of boards and committees. In her professional life she chairs boards which involves managing the Board and monitoring, evaluating and improving performance.
She joined the Raising Achievement Board to use her skills and experience, learnt in her personal and professional life, to give something back to her old school. Education is very important and Grace believes that schools play a vital role in raising aspirations of children and wants to be a part of helping our children to be the best that they can be.
Grace is heavily involved in working with the young people within her church community.
Viv Cruickshank ( Parent)
Viv is now an independent business services consultant who was previously the CEO of a specialist recruitment and consultancy business with previous senior leadership experience in logistics at BSKYB. Viv was appointed to the Raising Achievement Board by the MAT Board.
Viv has worked with FE Colleges and Primary/secondary schools, recruiting teachers, leaders and senior executives, which has given her a crucial insight into the needs, requirements and also the dedication involved across the education sector.
Viv is an avid and enthusiastic supporter of education and is passionate about helping young people to succeed at whatever they do and wants to play a part as a parent assisting her son and the school achieve and exceed the aspirations that they have for their pupils. Viv is an experienced, insightful business leader who has worked within the further education sector for over 10 years. She hopes to bring those skills along with fresh drive and enthusiasm to the Raising Achievement Board. Her expertise is in Change management and continuous positive improvements.
Viv is a keen cook and baker, she also enjoys badminton and clay pigeon shooting. She also enjoys writing and is a beaver scout leader.
Andy was appointed to the RAB in November 2020.
Andy has had a variety of experience including being a teacher, deputy and year head for 12 years, a financial advisor for 2 years and a learning development professional for 21 years as a corporate trainer and business and leadership coach and consultant
Andy wanted to join the RAB to give something back to education which he sees as the basis for everything in human potential and development.
Andy’s key skills are his experience of teaching and learning both in schools and in business environments, his ability to engage with others. His knowledge and utilisation of developmental principles, models and methodology and his energy, professionalism and sense of humour.
His hobbies include the great outdoors and exercise, walking, cycling, the gym and yoga. He loves being outdoors and being able to travel when he can and having fun, laughing and relaxing with good company, good food and good wine.
Jonathan has been a parent governor on the George Eliot RAB since July 2011.
Jonathan is a principal technologist working in the Aerospace Industry. He joined the RAB to help the school in raising the educational standards and pupil aspirations.
Jonathan’s interests include table tennis and collecting first day covers.
Oliver joined the RAB in February 2018.
Oliver is currently a Global Recruitment Officer the University of Leicester and was previously Marketing and Recruitment manager for CU London, senior recruitment Co ordinator at CU Coventry as well as in the outreach team at Birmingham City University.
He has a degree in Film Technology and Visual Effects, a Postgraduate Certificate with Distinction in Career Guidance Studies and also an ILM Management and Leadership qualification.
Oliver has worked in a number of schools and college supporting their career guidance strategy. He strongly values education as a tool for success within society and believes that his skills and experience can provide creative perspectives to enhance the approach to learning.
Oliver has a postgraduate certificate in careers guidance and has skills and experience in Partnership and collaborations. He believes in fairness and equality and wants to increase opportunities for young people.
Oliver enjoys baking, hiking, travelling and the movies.
Sharon was appointed to the Raising Achievement Board on 13th May 2019.
Prior to her retirement she worked in a secondary school at a post 16 level working with and analysing school data.
Sharon has been a parent governor at infant and junior schools and a staff governor, she believes that these experiences have given her a skill set which will be useful in the role as a Raising Achievement Board Member.
In her spare time Sharon enjoys reading, watching live sport, theatre and music.
Amy Morris (Parent)
Amy was born in Nuneaton and has lived locally in Hinckley, Barwell and Hartshill.
She completed a Contemporary Arts BA (Hons) degree at the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2003 and made a career in Dance and drama teaching on a freelance basis within the Midlands.
During that time she also worked at Battling Brook Primary School in Hinckley as a HLTA, gaining the qualification from Northampton University.
After her 3 children were born, Amy had a career change and now works from home dealing in antiques, vintage and retro items. She strongly believes in high expectations for our local children and strive to support the Midland Academies Trust in delivering this to the next generation.
